OK, OK not everyone can earn an OAM at the age of 18.
Still, what’s not to admire about Dylan Alcott.
Dylan has a long list of sporting, charity and media achievements. He’s also not afraid to shine brightly, and he positively promotes using our innate gifts for good.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? ”Marianne Williamson –‘A Return to Love”.
And so Dylan sums this all up sweetly in his 3 line bio for Triple J.
Of course, bios can be longer and more detailed too.
Here’s one for Wendy Harmer that shows a different style of bio writing.
Who do you think you are?
Take some time now to reflect on this. Your Bio needs to shine.
To help you get started, write down your responses to the following 3 points:
- Your big picture goals and aspirations.
- Your 2-3 most impressive and relevant achievements.
- One quirky fact about you 🙂
It’s okay if you’re not sure about your achievements yet. If you’ve hit a blank, you can list skills that you’ve developed, even if they seem small.
e.g.1 Verity is a pun master. (She is btw.)
e.g.2 Michael prioritises good oral hygiene.
