Week 7: Taking stock

It’s that time in the semester to check in. What you’ve done well. What you’ve missed or left for another day. What still needs to be done by the end of your course.


Check in on each of the following:


Am I up-to-date? Do I know what I have due for this class? Do I know what I have due for every class? Have I started on everything? Is there anything that I’m unclear about? Is there anything stressing me?

Tools for looking for work

Do you have all of the tools you need to apply for work?

  • Resume
  • Cover letter
  • LinkedIn profile
  • WordPress site
  • Social media platforms
  • Samples of work (eg writing, radio demo etc)

What works well?
What can be improved?

(Feel free to ask for a second opinion on any of the above.)

Your plan for the rest of the semester

Particularly looking at your Work Practice class, how will you get your assessments complete?

Have you done your Career Advice report? Contacted enough media professionals? Started to build your networks?

What’s one thing that you can do right now that will get you closer to the next step in your career?

Have you found a work experience opportunity? How can we still make this work in the current climate?
