It’s pretty intuitive to use, but if you’d prefer a step-by-step, here’s a good one.
Use one of the infographic templates to get started.

No idea what to make your infographic about?
First up, choose one of the four topics above.

Next, research more about the topic. A bit of googling will help a lot. Make sure your sources are good.

Then, narrow down the focus of your topic.

eg. Creativity could become ‘5 ideas to make you more creative’.

My infographic is looking too cluttered!
Good infographics tend to rely on strong, bold images, and keep the word count comparatively low.

If you’ve edited down the number of words and it still looks cluttered, try changing the sizes of things. Make the big things bigger, and the small text smaller.

Ask for a second opinion if you’ve got one handy 😉

Not sure who to profile?
Have a look for some inspo:

Talk to someone for their ideas:

    • It’s an excuse to call someone you haven’t for a while, or to start a different type of conversation with someone you talk to all the time.
    • Ask … Who inspires them? Who is changing things in their corner of the world?

Look locally:

    • Who is organising local action groups (or campaigns, or festivals, or…)?
    • Is there a local politician making an impact?
    • Who is running local community groups?
    • Local papers, radio stations, council sites, even signs on the street poles are a good place to start.

Look online:

    • Use hashtags such as #dogood #giveback #socialgood #4change to research causes and topics you’re passionate about.
    • Follow the internet wormholes. Sometimes one click leads to another, which leads to a great story!

Not sure how to approach someone for an interview?
Check their social media accounts. Choose the platform that they’re most active on, and just be bold – ask them if you could ask them a couple of questions for this article you’re writing.

Remember: people who are trying to change the world are usually incredibly passionate about whatever they’re doing.

That means that they’re keen to talk about it!

#8: Meme it
